Shopify Catalog checker
ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and the Shop app get Shopify product data from Shopify Catalog. Enter your store to see which of your products are in it, what those apps are told about each one, and where you rank for a question shoppers are likely to ask.
What the checker shows
- Which of your products are in Shopify Catalog, which are out of stock there, and which are missing, with the likely reason. Out-of-stock products are left out of searches.
- What AI apps are told about each product: the description, the category, reviews, whether shoppers can check out in the chat, and the features Shopify's AI added from your page.
- Your rank for a shopper's question in the market you pick, out of every matching Shopify product, and the products ranking ahead with their price and rating.
Every check is live: we ask Shopify Catalog when you press the button and store no catalog data. For what this means for ChatGPT, read what ChatGPT is told about your Shopify products and why products don't show up in ChatGPT.
Questions
- What is Shopify Catalog?
- Shopify Catalog is the product index Shopify shares with AI shopping apps. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Meta and the Shop app get Shopify product data from it. Each app still decides on its own which products to show and how to describe them.
- If my product is in Shopify Catalog, will ChatGPT show it?
- Not necessarily. Being in the catalog makes a product eligible; ChatGPT still picks which products to show for each question. OpenAI also keeps some categories out of ChatGPT product results, including supplements, cannabis and THC products, and prescription medicines, even when they are in the catalog.
- Why is my product not in Shopify Catalog?
- Shopify leaves out products with no image, a price of zero, or no page on the online store; products that are unlisted or hidden from search engines; add-ons such as shipping protection or warranties; and categories it excludes, such as alcohol, tobacco, weapons and medical products. Whole stores are left out when they are password-protected, on a plan below Starter, or still being reviewed. Out-of-stock products stay in the catalog but are left out of searches.
- Where do the features marked "Added by Shopify AI" come from?
- Shopify writes them from your product page and sends them to AI apps alongside your own description. Shopify says they might vary in accuracy, so read them: a wrong claim there can end up in an AI answer about your product.
- Does this check Google AI Mode and Gemini?
- No. Google AI Mode and Gemini get Shopify products through the Google & YouTube channel and Google Merchant Center, not through Shopify Catalog.
- Do I need to install anything or share my admin?
- No. Enter your store's domain: the checker reads the product list your store already shares publicly and looks each product up in Shopify Catalog, the first 250 products. Nothing is installed and no login is needed.
