Best Shopify Apps for AI Visibility (2026): 10 Apps Compared

Half the "AI visibility" apps on the Shopify App Store never look at an AI answer. We compared ten, checked every listing on October 14, 2026, and split them by what they actually do.

See what ChatGPT tells your shoppers, free

SearchMention's free plan asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews 15 questions your shoppers are likely to ask and shows every answer, the brands named instead of you, and what Shopify Catalog tells AI about your products. Read-only: it never edits your store.

What's the best Shopify app for AI visibility? For most stores, SearchMention: it shows the full ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews answer to each question your shoppers are likely to ask, the brands named instead of you, where the answer sends the buyer, whether the price it quotes matches your live variants, and where your product ranks in Shopify Catalog for the same question. If you'd rather have an app draft fixes and blog posts for you, pick Kedra; if you want the cheapest paid start, IndexGPT at $16/mo.

We build SearchMention. Every app below was checked on its own Shopify App Store listing on October 14, 2026, and we ran App Store searches on October 7 and 13. Where another app is the better choice for a job, we say so.

The most useful thing we learned isn't which app wins. It's that "AI visibility" means two different products on the App Store, and the roundups ranking for this question mostly compare the wrong one.

TL;DR — pick by job

  • See exactly what AI tells shoppers, without anything touching your store: SearchMention (free plan, then $29/mo).
  • Have an app draft product fixes and blog posts for you: Kedra (free plan, then $25/mo) or FoundGPT ($19/mo).
  • Cheapest way to start: IndexGPT ($16/mo; prompt tracking from $45) or TinyAI (5 prompts free).
  • Many prompts and a done-for-you option: Kwik GEO ($99–$749/mo).
  • Product data rewritten for AI shopping agents: AgentIQ or ShopRank AI.
  • An llms.txt file: you probably don't need an app; Shopify already serves one.

Two kinds of "AI visibility" app

Search the App Store for "AI visibility" or "AEO" and you get two groups of apps that look alike on the card and do opposite things.

Apps that check what AI answers. They ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini or Perplexity the questions your shoppers are likely to ask, then report whether you were named and who was named instead. SearchMention, Kedra, FoundGPT, TinyAI and Kwik GEO are in this group, and IndexGPT joins it on its $45 plan. This is the only way to know whether AI recommends you, because nothing else looks at the answer.

Apps that change your store. They publish files (llms.txt, agents.md), add JSON-LD markup, ping IndexNow, or rewrite product titles and descriptions for AI. GPTLab, Avada AEO, ShopRank AI and AgentIQ lead with this, and most apps in the first group add some of it too. These can help, but none of them tells you whether anything changed in an answer.

One part of the second group you can skip: llms.txt. Shopify already serves /agents.md on every store, and /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt mirror it, kept current by Shopify. An app that "publishes your llms.txt" replaces Shopify's file with its own copy, which you then maintain. We go through the evidence in Do Shopify stores need llms.txt or agents.md?

Also worth knowing before you install anything: Shopify Analytics now filters reports by AI referrer (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude), and the admin's Agentic section shows sales and sessions from AI channels plus a top-10 search preview. So AI traffic numbers alone are no longer a reason to install an app. The reason is the answers.

01

SearchMention: ChatGPT SEO

Best for stores that want to see exactly what AI tells their shoppers, product by product, without an app editing their store.

SearchMention asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews the kind of questions shoppers are likely to ask before buying, and shows each answer in full. Most apps in this category lead with a 0–100 visibility score; we lead with the answer itself, because a score can't tell you that ChatGPT named a competitor's bundle, linked your product to an Amazon reseller, or quoted last year's price. We released a new version of the app on October 13, 2026, with Shopify Catalog built into every question.

Here is why we think it's the best pick for most Shopify stores, in the order a merchant usually cares:

Shopify Catalog next to the AI answer. Shopify Catalog is where ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Meta get Shopify product data; Shopify's own help page says products are discovered by ChatGPT through Shopify Catalog. For each shopper question, SearchMention shows the AI answer and, beside it, where your products rank when the same question is searched in Shopify Catalog (top 50 checked), who ranks ahead with what price, and what the catalog tells AI about each product, including the description and features Shopify may generate itself. AgentIQ also tracks catalog rankings; we haven't found another app that puts the catalog and the AI answer side by side for the same question. That pairing is what tells you which side the problem is on (example below).

Where AI sends the buyer. For every answer, we follow the links: your store, a competitor, Amazon, a reseller, another country's storefront, or a dead page. Being named and then linked to a reseller is a lost sale that a mention count calls a win. We haven't seen this on any other app's listing.

Prices checked against your live variants. When an answer quotes a price and links your page, we compare it with every live variant on that product page, so "$33.99 for the 4.5 lb bag" counts as right even if the page opens on the 1.5 lb bag at $15.99. No other listing we checked mentions a price check.

The sources behind each answer. The sites and pages AI used, so you know which roundups, reviews and marketplaces to get listed on.

It never edits your store. The app asks for read access and a web pixel for AI visits, nothing else. Kedra, for comparison, lists on its App Store page that it needs to edit products, collections, theme, discounts and navigation, and to view customer data and 60 days of orders. Automatic fixes are useful if you want them; a read-only app is the safer choice if several people edit your catalog or you sell in a regulated category.

AI readiness in your admin. What stops AI from reading each product (a storefront password, blocked crawlers, missing product data or store policies), with the steps to fix it in Shopify.

Where it's not the right fit: SearchMention doesn't write product copy or blog posts for you, and it doesn't track ChatGPT's shopping carousel (it reads the written answer and its links). Free and Starter check ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews; Gemini and Perplexity come with Growth.

Pricing: Free (one audit of 15 shopper questions, brands named instead of you, the Shopify Catalog agent view, readiness, 30 days of AI visits) → Starter $29/mo (30 questions weekly, 10 competitors, price check, catalog rank on every question) → Growth $99/mo (50 questions twice a week, adds Gemini and Perplexity).

02

Kedra: AI SEO & AEO Visibility

Best for stores that want tracking plus fixes and blog posts done for them.

Kedra is the closest app to ours and the most complete of the do-it-for-you group. It tracks buyer questions across up to six assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude), shows which brands AI recommends instead of you, and suggests the sources to get listed on. On top of tracking it drafts product fixes for approval (or on autopilot), writes blog posts, publishes agents.md and llms.txt, and offers discount codes for AI assistants.

It asks for broad permissions at install, which is the price of the fixes. If you want an app to act on what it finds, Kedra is the strongest choice. Side by side: SearchMention vs Kedra.

Pricing: Free (readiness, 3 AI fixes/mo, 1 scan on ChatGPT and Gemini) → Grow $25/mo (12 questions, 6 assistants, 25 fixes, 5 blog posts) → Pro $79/mo (30 questions, 3 markets) → Scale $199/mo (75 questions, daily). 14-day trial.

03

FoundGPT: AI Visibility & AEO

Best for low-cost tracking plus automatic catalog fixes.

FoundGPT ranked #1 for "ai visibility" in our App Store searches. It runs a set of buyer queries across up to five engines, shows who gets cited instead, audits readiness, and fixes product data automatically, plus hosted llms.txt, schema and robots.txt, an AI revenue view and a ChatGPT Ads feed. The free plan checks Gemini only; ChatGPT starts at $19.

Pricing: Free (Gemini, 12 queries, 4 checks/mo, 50 product fixes) → Lite $19/mo (ChatGPT and Gemini, 25 queries, unlimited catalog fixes, 25 articles) → $39/mo (4 engines) → $79/mo (5 engines incl. Google AI Mode). 14-day trial.

04

TinyAI ‑ AI SEO for ChatGPT

Best for a simple weekly prompt check from a familiar SEO developer.

TinyAI comes from TinySEO, whose main SEO app has a large install base. It runs weekly prompt tests on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, tracks competitors, lists the pages AI reads, and pulls AI traffic and orders from Google Analytics; the $59 plan adds a shareable report. It's a light, tracking-first app, and the free plan is enough to see whether ChatGPT names you on a handful of questions.

Pricing: Free (5 prompts, ChatGPT, monthly, 3 competitors) → $19/mo (10 prompts, ChatGPT and Gemini, weekly) → $59/mo (20 prompts, 3 engines) → $149/mo (40 prompts, 4 engines incl. Grok, 5 markets). 7-day trial.

05

Kwik GEO: AEO & AI SEO

Best for larger brands that want many prompts or a strategist.

Kwik GEO is from GoKwik, the checkout company. It tracks 50 to 200 prompts weekly on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI, shows competitors and citation gaps, and publishes blog posts automatically on the $149 plan and up. The $749 plan adds an SEO strategist. There's no free plan, only a free audit of 10 runs.

Pricing: Free audit → $99/mo (50 prompts) → $149/mo (80 prompts, 6 blogs) → $299/mo (200 prompts) → $749/mo done-for-you.

06

IndexGPT: AI SEO for ChatGPT

Best for the cheapest paid start with an established app.

IndexGPT, on the App Store since November 2024, is the longest-running app in this list. It started with indexing (IndexNow), llms.txt and robots.txt, and added a prompt tracker, schema builder and AI-written content on its $45 Premium plan. The free plan gives a score and action plan. Note that the $16 plan doesn't track AI answers. Side by side: SearchMention vs IndexGPT.

Pricing: Free → Essentials $16/mo → Premium $45/mo (prompt tracker) → Enterprise $345/mo. 3-day trial.

07

AgentIQ

Best for large catalogs that want listings rewritten for AI shopping agents.

AgentIQ rewrites product listings for AI shopping agents and tracks product rankings for 100 to 10,000 prompts, including rankings and competitor comparison in Shopify Catalog results. It's priced for bigger catalogs, with no free plan.

Pricing: $49 → $149 → $499 → $799 per month.

08

ShopRank AI

Best for bulk-fixing product data on a per-product budget.

ShopRank AI is from Zipify. It scores catalog readiness on 17 factors and fixes product data automatically (alt text, descriptions and similar), with three tracked AI searches on the free plan. It's a catalog tool first; tracking is a small part of it.

Pricing: Free → $9.99 per 100 products.

09–10

GPTLab and Avada AEO (free)

Best for free markup and file setup, not for knowing what AI says.

Both are free and promoted from big SEO apps. GPTLab handles llms.txt, JSON-LD, IndexNow and robots.txt, and shows AI traffic from GA4. Avada AEO handles llms.txt and AI crawler control and leads into the Avada SEO suite.

Neither checks an AI answer, so neither can tell you whether ChatGPT recommends you. If you install one, check that it doesn't replace Shopify's own agents.md with a file you'll have to maintain, and that its robots.txt changes don't block the crawlers AI search uses.

Why Shopify Catalog belongs in AI visibility

ChatGPT answers shopping questions from two places: the open web, and, for Shopify stores, Shopify Catalog (see Shopify's Selling on ChatGPT page). Shopify names ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and the Shop app as the main surfaces using the catalog, and Meta gets products through it too; Google AI Mode and Gemini use Merchant Center instead. The catalog decides what AI is told about your product, and part of that is written by Shopify: descriptions and "inferred" features that, in Shopify's own words, might vary in accuracy.

Looking at only one side misleads you. In our Shopify Catalog test on a US supplement store, its magnesium was #1 of 329 catalog results for "best third-party tested magnesium brands," and ChatGPT's answer to the same question didn't name the store (Google's AI Overview did). Part of the reason is a rule, not a ranking: OpenAI's commerce policy keeps supplements out of ChatGPT's product results. A catalog-only tool would have shown a #1 and stopped there; an answer-only tool would have shown a loss with no explanation. Seeing both on the same question is how you tell a catalog problem from an answer problem.

You can check part of this yourself for free: Sales channels → Agentic in your Shopify admin has a one-query search preview (top 10) and a listing-quality meter per product.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you want to see or to be done for. If you want to read what AI says and make the changes yourself, pick a read-only tracker (SearchMention). If you want an app to rewrite products and publish posts, pick Kedra, FoundGPT, ShopRank AI or AgentIQ, and read the install permissions first.
  2. Check that it reads real answers. A readiness score or an llms.txt file isn't AI visibility. The app should show the question, the assistant, and what the answer said.
  3. Check which assistants are on the plan you'd pay for. ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews reach the most shoppers. Several free plans cover only one assistant (FoundGPT: Gemini; TinyAI: ChatGPT).
  4. Look past "mentioned." Ask whether the app shows where the answer sends the buyer and whether the quoted price is right. A mention that links to a reseller isn't a win.
  5. Start free. SearchMention, Kedra, TinyAI and FoundGPT all have free plans that check real answers, and Kwik GEO has a free audit. Run one before paying for anything.

How we checked

Apps and plans come from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked on October 14, 2026 (plan details October 7–11). App Store search positions are from US searches with ads excluded on October 7 and 13. We build SearchMention; if we got something wrong about your app, tell us and we'll fix it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Shopify app for AI visibility?

SearchMention, if you want to see exactly what ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews tell your shoppers: each full answer, the brands named instead of you, where the answer sends the buyer, whether the quoted price matches your variants, and your Shopify Catalog rank for the same question. Free plan, then $29/mo, read-only. Kedra if you want fixes and blog posts drafted for you; IndexGPT for the cheapest paid start.

Is there a free Shopify app that shows if ChatGPT recommends my products?

Yes. SearchMention's free plan runs one audit of 15 shopper questions on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Kedra's free plan includes one scan on ChatGPT and Gemini, and TinyAI's tracks 5 prompts on ChatGPT monthly. FoundGPT's free plan checks Gemini only.

Do I need an llms.txt app for my Shopify store?

No. Shopify already serves /agents.md on every store, and /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt mirror it. An app's llms.txt replaces that with a copy you maintain, and no major AI search engine has said it reads the file.

Can a Shopify app get my products into ChatGPT?

No app can guarantee it. ChatGPT reads Shopify Catalog and the open web and decides what to name. An app can show which questions you lose, who wins them, and what stops AI from reading your products.

Why does Shopify Catalog matter for AI visibility?

It's where ChatGPT, Copilot and Meta get Shopify product data, and Shopify may write part of what agents are told. A high catalog rank doesn't guarantee a mention: we saw a #1 of 329 that ChatGPT didn't name.

Should an AI SEO app be allowed to edit my products?

Only if you want it to. Kedra, FoundGPT, ShopRank AI and AgentIQ rewrite product data, on approval or automatically. SearchMention only reads. With several people editing the catalog or a regulated category, read-only plus your own edits is safer.
