Best AI Visibility Tool for Small Online Stores (2026)

For most small online stores, the best AI visibility tool is SearchMention: a free audit of 15 shopper questions on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, then $29/mo for 30 questions every week, with each answer, the brand named instead of you, and where the link sends the buyer. If you only need daily brand mentions, Otterly.AI is $29/mo; on Shopify, Kedra ($25/mo) is the pick if you want an app to draft fixes for you.

We build SearchMention. Prices below are from each vendor's pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, and every pick says when to choose something else.

The short answer, by budget and need

What's different when it's you doing the marketing

The tools built for marketing teams start at $95 to $295 a month and come with dashboards for share of voice, sentiment and prompt volume. A store where one person runs marketing, customer service and the website needs something else: a short list of the questions that sell its best products, the answer to each, and the one page to change.

Small stores get named less. In our test of 404 shopper questions for 27 small stores, ChatGPT named the store in 69 of 404 answers (17%), and 2 of the 27 stores were never named at all. The first thing you need to know is whether you're in that group, and that is what a free audit answers.

Product answers beat brand counts. A small brand rarely wins "best running shoes". It wins "running shoes for wide feet under $120". Those answers name products and quote prices, so a tool that tracks products tells you more than one that counts your brand name.

Weekly is enough. If you change a few product pages a month, daily numbers mostly show noise. Spend the difference on the fixes.

The picks, for a store with one person on marketing

1. SearchMention

Best for small stores that want to know which product pages to fix

The free audit asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews 15 questions a buyer of your products is likely to ask, then shows every answer: whether you were mentioned, who was named instead, the price quoted and where each link sends the buyer. Starter keeps 30 questions running every week for $29, and if you'd rather not subscribe, the one-time $49 audit runs 50 questions on four engines and checks them again 30 days later.

It's built for stores rather than marketing teams: answers are tied to your product pages (Shopify app, WooCommerce and Magento), AI Readiness lists what stops AI from reading a product, and it never edits your store.

Pick it if

You sell your own products and want a short weekly list of what AI says about them, for less than $30.

Skip it if

You want daily numbers, more than two engines at $29 (Gemini and Perplexity come with Growth at $99), or a tool that rewrites your pages for you.

Price: Free audit (15 questions) · Starter $29 (30 questions weekly, 1 store) · one-time AI audit $49 (50 questions on 4 engines, plus a re-check) · See plans

2. Otterly.AI

Best for daily brand-mention tracking on four engines for $29

Otterly is the cheapest way to watch four engines every day: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with brand mentions, website citations and competitors. It's straightforward to set up and the Lite plan is real, not a teaser. It tracks your brand rather than your products, so it won't tell you which product AI named or what price it quoted.

Pick it if

People find you by brand name or a broad category, and a daily check on four engines matters more than product detail.

Skip it if

You need product-level answers, or 15 prompts won't cover your product lines; the next plan is $189.

Price: Lite $29 (15 prompts) · Standard $189 (100 prompts) · Source

3. Kedra (Shopify app)

Best for Shopify stores that want an app to make the fixes

Kedra tracks buyer questions on up to six assistants, shows the brands named instead of you, and then does the work: it drafts product fixes for your approval (or on autopilot), writes blog posts and publishes llms.txt and agents.md. It asks for broad store permissions, which is the price of the fixes. Side by side: SearchMention vs Kedra.

Pick it if

You're on Shopify, short on time, and happy for an app to edit products and publish posts once you approve them.

Skip it if

You'd rather keep your store read-only, or you're not on Shopify. More Shopify options: 10 Shopify apps compared.

Price: Free (readiness, 3 AI fixes/mo, 1 scan) · Grow $25 (12 questions, 6 assistants, 25 fixes, 5 blog posts) · Pro $79 · Source

4. Ranketta

Best for small EU stores that want product tracking, with fixes later

Ranketta's €29 Tracker follows individual products on two models, priced in euros with two months free on yearly billing. When you're ready, Starter (€79) adds its merchandising agent, which fixes product data and connects your feed to AI engines.

Pick it if

You sell in euros, want product-level tracking from day one, and may want a tool to rewrite product data later.

Skip it if

You need the price AI quotes checked against your page; we didn't find that on its site.

Price: Tracker €29 (2 models, 30 prompts each, 1 country) · Starter €79 (adds merchandising) · Source

5. Ayzeo

Best for stores on WordPress that want a free on-site audit first

Ayzeo's WordPress plugin runs a site audit, IndexNow, an AI crawler policy and llms.txt on your own server without an account. Tracking whether ChatGPT and AI Overviews mention you starts at $39 a month for 20 prompts. It tracks your site and brand, not individual products.

Pick it if

Your store runs on WordPress and you want a free technical check before paying for tracking.

Skip it if

You're comparing prices AI quotes or tracking specific products; and at $39 for two engines, it costs more than the $29 options above.

Price: Starter $39 (1 project, 20 prompts, ChatGPT and AI Overviews) · extra engines $29 each · Pro $149 · Source

The $0 option: check by hand

Open ChatGPT in a private window, so your own history doesn't shape the answer, and ask five questions the way a buyer of your best seller would. Write down who is named, which product, at what price, and where each link goes. Do the same in Google and read the AI Overview. It takes about twenty minutes, it's free, and it's how you'll know whether paying for a tool is worth it.

FAQ

What is the best AI visibility tool for a small online store?

SearchMention, for most small stores: the free audit asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews 15 questions your shoppers are likely to ask and shows each answer, the brands named instead of you and where the links go; Starter is $29/mo for 30 questions every week. If you only want daily brand mentions, Otterly.AI is $29/mo for 15 prompts. On Shopify, Kedra ($25/mo) is the pick if you want an app to draft fixes for you.

Is there a free AI visibility tool for small stores?

Yes. SearchMention's free plan runs one audit of 15 shopper questions on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, with a readiness check and 30 days of AI traffic. On the Shopify App Store, Kedra, TinyAI and FoundGPT also have free plans with tighter limits (FoundGPT's free plan checks Gemini only). You can also ask ChatGPT your shoppers' questions yourself in a private window, for free.

How many questions should a small store track?

Start with 15 to 30 that a buyer of your best sellers is likely to ask: the category question ("best organic dog treats"), the problem question ("dog treats for a sensitive stomach"), and a comparison with the competitor you lose to most. A few questions you act on are worth more than a hundred you only watch.

Does a small store need daily AI visibility tracking?

Usually not. Daily data helps teams that change many pages a week and need to see the effect fast. A small store that edits a few product pages a month can read a weekly check and act on it; the money is better spent on the fixes.

Can I check my AI visibility by hand?

Yes, for a handful of questions: open ChatGPT in a private window so your history doesn't shape the answer, ask the question the way a shopper would, and note who is named and where the links go. It stops being practical when you want the same questions every week, more than one engine, or the price checked against your product page.
