Best AI Visibility App for Shopify Stores (2026)
For most Shopify stores, the best AI visibility app is SearchMention: it asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews the questions your shoppers are likely to ask, shows each full answer with the brands named instead of you and where each link sends the buyer, checks the price AI quotes against your variants, and puts your Shopify Catalog rank beside every answer. Kedra is the pick if you want an app to write the fixes and blog posts for you, and IndexGPT is the cheapest paid start.
We build SearchMention. App details come from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked October 14, 2026 unless another date is shown.

The short answer, by store
- You want to know what ChatGPT and AI Overviews say about your products: SearchMention (free audit, then $29/mo; Shopify Catalog rank beside every answer).
- You want an app to write the fixes and blog posts for you: Kedra (free, then $25/mo; broad install permissions).
- Cheapest paid start with an established app: IndexGPT ($16/mo; answers tracked from $45).
- You only need llms.txt and markup set up: GPTLab or Avada AEO (free; neither reads an AI answer).
What's different about Shopify
Any AI visibility tool can track a Shopify store's answers, because the tracking happens outside the store: the tool asks ChatGPT and the other assistants your shoppers' questions and reads the replies. Three things about Shopify decide whether an app is actually useful to you.
ChatGPT is told about your products by Shopify Catalog. Shopify Catalog is where ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and the Shop app get Shopify product data, and part of what it says about each product is written by Shopify: descriptions and inferred features that, in Shopify's own words, might vary in accuracy. A high rank there doesn't guarantee a mention: in our test on a US supplement store, its magnesium ranked #1 of 329 catalog results and ChatGPT's answer didn't name the store. An app for Shopify should show the catalog rank and the answer on the same question, so you can tell a catalog problem from an answer problem. Shopify's admin gives you a one-query preview for free under Sales channels → Agentic, and our free catalog checker shows the top 50.
Readiness on Shopify is about access, not markup. Shopify themes ship Product markup with the price and currency, so what usually stops AI from reading a product is a storefront password, crawlers blocked in robots.txt, missing product data or missing store policies. A readiness check for Shopify should list those per product, with the fix in your admin, rather than scoring optional fields.
An SEO app is not AI visibility. Apps that write llms.txt or JSON-LD change files; they never read an answer, so they can't tell you whether ChatGPT names your products. Shopify already serves agents.md on every store, and no major AI search engine has said it reads llms.txt. Apps that rewrite your products need permission to edit products, collections and the theme, which is the price of the fixes. Decide first whether you want to see what AI says or to have an app act on it, then compare all ten apps on that line.

The picks, for Shopify stores
1. SearchMention
Best for Shopify stores that want to see exactly what AI tells their shoppers, product by product, without an app editing their store
SearchMention asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews the questions shoppers are likely to ask before buying and shows each answer in full. Most apps in this category lead with a 0 to 100 score; we lead with the answer, because a score can't tell you that ChatGPT named a competitor's bundle, linked your product to an Amazon reseller, or quoted last year's price. When an answer quotes a price and links your page, we compare it with every live variant on that product, so "$33.99 for the 4.5 lb bag" counts as right even if the page opens on the 1.5 lb bag.
For every question, the app also shows where your products rank when the same question is searched in Shopify Catalog (top 50), who ranks ahead at what price, and what the catalog tells AI about each product. AI readiness lists what stops AI from reading each product, with the fix in your admin, and a web pixel counts visits from AI answers. The app asks for read access and the pixel, nothing else. It runs on Shopify as an app in your admin and on WooCommerce and Magento from searchmention.com.
Pick it if
You sell your own products on Shopify and want to know what AI says about them, where it sends the buyer, and how you rank in Shopify Catalog, without an app editing your store.
Skip it if
You want product copy or blog posts written for you, or you track ChatGPT's shopping carousel rather than the written answer.
Price: Free (one audit of 15 questions, Shopify Catalog agent view, readiness, 30 days of AI visits) · Starter $29 (30 questions twice a week, price check, catalog rank on every question) · Growth $99 (50 questions, adds Gemini and Perplexity) · See plans
2. Kedra
Best for Shopify stores that want tracking plus fixes and blog posts done for them
Kedra is the closest app to ours and the most complete of the do-it-for-you group. It tracks buyer questions across up to six assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude), shows which brands AI recommends instead of you, and suggests the sources to get listed on. On top of tracking it drafts product fixes for approval or on autopilot, writes blog posts, publishes agents.md and llms.txt, and offers discount codes for AI assistants. It asks for broad permissions at install, which is the price of the fixes. Side by side: SearchMention vs Kedra.
Pick it if
You want one app to find the gaps and act on them, and you're comfortable giving it edit access to products, collections and the theme.
Skip it if
Several people edit your catalog, you sell in a regulated category, or you want to read the answers and make the changes yourself.
Price: Free (readiness, 3 AI fixes/mo, 1 scan on ChatGPT and Gemini) · Grow $25 (12 questions, 6 assistants, 25 fixes, 5 blog posts) · Pro $79 (30 questions, 3 markets) · Scale $199 (75 questions, daily); 14-day trial · Source
3. IndexGPT
Best for the cheapest paid start with an established app
IndexGPT, on the App Store since November 2024, is the longest-running app in this list. It started with indexing (IndexNow), llms.txt and robots.txt, and added a prompt tracker, schema builder and AI-written content on its $45 Premium plan. The free plan gives a score and an action plan; note that the $16 plan doesn't track AI answers. Side by side: SearchMention vs IndexGPT.
Pick it if
You want an inexpensive, well-reviewed AI SEO app inside your admin and can live without answer tracking until you upgrade.
Skip it if
You want to see the AI answers from day one, or you sell on WooCommerce or Magento too.
Price: Free (score and action plan) · Essentials $16 · Premium $45 (prompt tracker, schema builder, AI content) · Enterprise $345; 3-day trial · Source
4. GPTLab and Avada AEO
Best for free markup and file setup, not for knowing what AI says
Both are free and promoted from big SEO apps. GPTLab handles llms.txt, JSON-LD, IndexNow and robots.txt, and shows AI traffic from GA4. Avada AEO handles llms.txt and AI crawler control and leads into the Avada SEO suite. Neither checks an AI answer, so neither can tell you whether ChatGPT recommends you. If you install one, check that it doesn't replace Shopify's own agents.md with a file you'll have to maintain, and that its robots.txt changes don't block the crawlers AI search uses.
Pick it if
Your theme is missing Product markup or you want llms.txt handled for free, and you'll pair it with a tool that reads the answers.
Skip it if
You expect it to show you whether AI mentions your products. It can't.

How we checked
We build SearchMention and ranked it first; the others are ordered by fit for a Shopify store that wants to know what AI says about its products. An app is listed here only if it is on the Shopify App Store. Tools that work the same on every platform, such as Peec, Profound, Otterly and Promptwatch, are in our ecommerce comparison; all ten Shopify apps, including Kwik GEO, FoundGPT, TinyAI, AgentIQ and ShopRank AI, are in the roundup.
FAQ
What's the best Shopify app to see if ChatGPT recommends my products?
SearchMention: it asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews the questions your shoppers are likely to ask and shows each full answer, the brands named instead of you, where each link sends the buyer, whether the quoted price matches your variants, and your Shopify Catalog rank for the same question. Free plan (one audit of 15 questions), then $29/mo. Kedra if you want fixes and blog posts drafted for you; IndexGPT for the cheapest paid start.
What's the best Shopify SEO app for showing up in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?
No SEO app can put a store in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews: ChatGPT decides from Shopify Catalog and the open web, and AI Overviews from Google's index. An SEO app keeps pages crawlable and Product markup complete, which Shopify themes mostly do already, but it cannot tell you whether the answers name your products. Use at most one markup app (GPTLab and Avada AEO are free) and a tool that reads the answers, such as SearchMention.
Is there a free Shopify app that shows if ChatGPT recommends my products?
Yes. SearchMention's free plan runs one audit of 15 shopper questions on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews and shows every answer. Kedra's free plan includes one scan on ChatGPT and Gemini, TinyAI's tracks 5 prompts on ChatGPT monthly, and FoundGPT's free plan checks Gemini only.
Why doesn't ChatGPT name my products when they rank in Shopify Catalog?
A catalog rank is what Shopify's product index returns for a search; the answer is what ChatGPT writes, and the two differ. In our test a supplement store's magnesium ranked #1 of 329 in Shopify Catalog for "best third-party tested magnesium brands" while ChatGPT's answer didn't name the store, partly because OpenAI's commerce policy keeps supplements out of ChatGPT's product results. Seeing the rank and the answer on the same question is how you tell a catalog problem from an answer problem.
Should an AI SEO app be allowed to edit my Shopify products?
Only if you want it to. Kedra, FoundGPT, ShopRank AI and AgentIQ rewrite product data, on approval or automatically, and ask for the permissions that needs. SearchMention asks for read access and a web pixel for AI visits, nothing else. With several people editing the catalog, or in a regulated category, an app that only reads, plus your own edits, is the safer setup.
